Dear Activists, Funders, Academics, and Community Stakeholders,
We are pleased to announce the launch of nine Doundou country reports for our focal countries in West Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo.
In 2023, we launched the Doundou Report, a comprehensive mapping of LGBTQI organizing in West Africa. This regional report highlighted evidence of change and growth within the LGBTQI movement, as well as the current state of funding in the region. While Doundou provides a regional perspective, the country-specific reports are essential resources for those working at national levels.
As we face increasingly complex social, political, economic, and security challenges, we want to make these reports available to community organizers, funders, academics, international NGOs, and other allies who can utilize them in their work to support, protect, and advocate for LGBTQI communities.
Given the fragility of certain national contexts, some reports—Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, and Senegal—will be available by request only.
This security measure is intended to protect the safety and security of organizations and activists. It remains dynamic and we will continue to assess it across our focal countries, adjusting access to the reports as needed.
