At the heart of ISDAO's 2023 annual report is the powerful symbol of the flamboyant tree, a metaphor for resilience and hope. With its deep roots, the tree thrives even in the most difficult conditions, its bright red flowers attracting attention, and its canopy offering shelter. This floral metaphor is the current illustration of our movements, as they navigate the challenges of backlash, violence, and restrictions on civic and activist spaces, offering a warm cocoon to communities in their resistance.
So, like flamboyants, ISDAO partners have created and reclaimed spaces that bring them comfort, communion, and inspiration, despite repression and the emergence of legislation denying their rights and well-being. Flamboyant Movements tells their story.
In our flamboyant report, discover how, thanks to 129 grants awarded, totaling over 2.5 million US dollars distributed in nine countries, ISDAO has remained true to its commitment to support LGBTQI movements in addition to organizing by people who use drugs (PWUDs) and sex workers (SWs).
Flamboyant Movements is a testament to survival and growth, a reflection of communities that not only have withstood adversity but have thrived in defiance of it.
