Launch Webinar: Creativity in Action, the Movement in Motion - Case Study of the Asanka Pilot Fund

Since its creation in 2021, ISDAO’s Asanka Creative Initiatives Fund has been supporting activists and organizations in implementing creative and innovative advocacy projects aimed at strengthening the LGBTQI movement in West Africa.

To learn from the experiences of the first cohort of partners funded through Asanka, a case study was commissioned to assess the challenges encountered, the impact of the projects, and the recommendations emerging from their work.

The report titled “Creativity in Action, the Movement in Motion!” highlights the initiatives that received grants during the fund’s first cycle and assesses the experiences of the grantee-partners.

Join ISDAO on May 20 for an engaging webinar to officially launch this report and explore its insights, reflections, and recommendations.

What to expect

  • A conversation with West African activists who are using creative and artistic approaches in their work — exploring their contexts, the challenges they face, and the lessons they’ve learned.
  • A conversation with ISDAO team members — reflecting on the case study and sharing perspectives and experiences from the Asanka Fund.

Who should attend

  • This webinar is open to activists, creatives, and movement leaders working in feminist and queer movements in West Africa, particularly those interested in creative and artistic approaches to activism.
  • We also warmly welcome funders, allies, and other movement actors committed to strengthening LGBTQI movements across West Africa, and interested in learning from ISDAO’s experience in funding creative and artistic activism.

We encourage you to read the report ahead of the webinar, so that we can have an enriching conversation.
