ALODO: RESPOND Fund Impact Assessment Report (2020-2024)

The RESPOND Fund is a support mechanism set up by ISDAO for partners who have received a ‘Regional’ or ‘Love Alliance’ grant. These additional funds enable organisations to provide rapid and flexible support to address emergencies relating to safety, security and other pressing community needs.

In 2025, ISDAO commissioned an independent evaluation to assess the contributions and outcomes of our RESPOND Fund. The findings and insights from this evaluation are presented in our latest publication titled: ALODO: RESPOND Fund Impact Assessment Report (2020-2024).

The evaluation sought to generate meaningful insight into the fund’s contribution to supporting and strengthening safety, security, and emergency response mechanisms for LGBTQI movements in West Africa. The report is intended to serve as a foundation for strategic action and continuous learning, and as a tool for philanthropic advocacy.

What you'll find in the report:

  • An analysis of the Fund’s contribution to LGBTQI organizations in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo between 2020 and 2024.
  • Insights into how West African LGBTQI movements define and respond to emergencies: best practices, key results, and common barriers.
  • Case studies, stories of change, and actionable recommendations for ISDAO and other donors resourcing LGBTQI movements in West Africa
